Amsterdam

Brennan and I took a trip to Amsterdam - we left early Friday and stayed until Sunday evening. It's a very nice city and was a little different than I had expected it to be. It was very modern with many fast food restaurants, and a very efficient transportation system in the form of electric street tramslines. Yet at the same time, Amsterdam is a very cultural city with the Rijks and Van Gogh museums, Heiniken Brewery (not as cool as the Guinness Brewery in Dublin), and Anne Frank house. The city has many old buildings with nice European architectural designs and a series of canals winding through the city's streets.

The infamous Red Light District was also quite intersting. It was actually a lot cleaner than I had expected it to be - seemed to be just a bunch of tourists having a good time with the plethora of pubs, coffee shops, and erotic theatres offered there.

Shopping is good in Amsterdam as well with a nice shopping district that reminded me of Grafton Street in Dublin.
